THE HUNGER GAMES, 2012, Lionsgate, 142 min. Dir. Gary Ross. In this big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling young-adult novel, children in the totalitarian nation of Panem are selected at random each year for a televised death match. When her younger sister is chosen, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) volunteers to take her place, and together with teammate Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) fights to survive the Hunger Games.
