"A Dog's Life," (1918, Janus Films, 40 min). A literal expression of Charlie Chaplin's identification with the underdog. When his canine companion digs up money buried by thieves, the Tramp and his friend Edna get a chance at a better life.
"Cops," (1922, Douris Corp., 18 min) Through a series of misunderstandings, Buster Keaton winds up with a man’s wallet, a family’s furniture, an anarchist’s bomb and an army of cops chasing after him.
"Liberty," (1929, 20 min) Laurel & Hardy play convicts who’ve escaped from jail and need to change clothes - a task they struggle with in cars, on streets and atop a skyscraper under construction.
"Never Weaken," (1921, 19 min.) Harold Lloyd's final short film follows a typically lovelorn fellow, who decides to commit suicide - and spends the majority of the film failing hilariously - when he hears his crush is to marry another.
