Art Deco Society Talks 2013
Co-Presented by the American Cinematheque, Hollywood Post 43 & the Art Deco Society Los Angeles

The American Legion was founded in 1919 to offer comaraderie and solace to war veterans. That same year, Hollywood's Post 43 was formed. The building on Highland Avenue was built in 1928 with proceeds from a boxing venue run by the veterans! Come tour Post 43 and its museum to learn about its storied history - which has been closely tied to Hollywood celebrity for nearly a century. Photos of Sid Grauman himself are among the memorabilia on display in the museum! The library, museum, Art Deco bar and other rooms will be open for you to visit.

Have a drink with the veterans of Hollywood Post 43 on Saturday before the presentation on its history and the tour and museum visit. They will be opening the Art Deco bar at noon, before the 1 PM event! Doors open at noon.

Following the 1:00 PM tour and museum visit is a 3:30 PM screening of the patriotic wartime musical YOU'LL NEVER GET RICH starring Rita Hayworth and Fred Astaire, with songs by Cole Porter - at the Egyptian Theatre!
