Castles in the Sky: Miyazaki, Takahata and the Masters of Studio Ghibli
POM POKO
The forests are filled with groups of magical tanuki, mischievous raccoon-like animals from Japanese folklore that are capable of shape-shifting from their standard raccoon form to practically any object. When construction of a huge new Tokyo suburb threatens their way of life they defend their home by playing tricks to make the workers think the construction site is haunted. An abundance of fantastical characters that would not be matched on screen by Studio Ghibli until SPIRITED AWAY.
Discussion following the film with Ned Lott (producer and voice director), Cindy Davis Hewitt (English screenplay adaptation), and members of the L.A. MadDogs Loop Group (audio), all with great stories to tell!
Dubbed in English from Japanese. Recommended ages: 7 to Adult.
