January 9 - 14, 2012, at the Egyptian and Aero Theatres
In early 1944, a number of movie stars went to 20th Century Fox Studios to see what a small group of foreign journalists had found to be especially worthwhile during the preceding year. The journalists, all members of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, decided that this would be an annual event. By 1962, the general public was invited to the celebration when KTTV Los Angeles first televised the awards.
We’re thrilled to host this series of screenings devoted to the films and filmmakers nominated for a Golden Globe in the Best Foreign-Language Film category. The five films spotlighted are Yimou Zhang’s THE FLOWERS OF WAR, Angelina Jolie’s IN THE LAND OF BLOOD AND HONEY, Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne’s KID WITH A BIKE, Asghar Farhadi’s A SEPARATION and Pedro Almodóvar’s THE SKIN I LIVE IN.
