A beautiful, diverse program of recent shorts from France helmed by female directors. Drama, comedy and animated tales of wonder and beauty for your pleasure. This is a precursor to our 7th Annual Focus on Female Directors program in January 2012, but with a focus on the Gallic!
Meliane Marcaggi’s “And You” (10 min). Zoe falls into the vicious cycle of jealousy.
Charlotte Joulia’s “As the Rain Was Falling” (9 min). A beautifully rendered, bittersweet film about chance encounters in the rain.
Sophie Roze’s “Joseph’s Snails” (12 min). This exquisitely animated film, nominated for the European Film Award for Best Short, concerns, well, snails!
Sarah Van Der Boom’s “The Skeleton Woman” (9 min). A woman tries to escape from the drudgery of her daily life in this gorgeously animated fable.
Caroline Chu-Vandevelde’s “The Miraculous Survivor of Saint Sauveur” (13 min). It’s more than a simple kidnapping when a man receives a ransom demand to free his wife.
Agnes Caffin’s “Scheherazade and the Kosher Delight” (20 min). A young woman wearing a T-shirt that states “I’m Muslim, Don’t Panic” heads to the Jewish district in Paris to apply for the job at a kosher café.
