The John Lautner Foundation presents "John Lautner Turns 100," part of a touring series taking place in Los Angeles and Marquette, Mich., including exhibitions, film screenings, home tours, symposia, receptions and more honoring the visionary 20th century architect. The Cinematheque partners for an evening of films about Lautner's work including the feature documentaries THE SPIRIT IN ARCHITECTURE: JOHN LAUTNER & INFINITE SPACE: THE ARCHITECTURE OF JOHN LAUTNER and the short "John Lautner, The Desert Springs Motel" (2007, 10 min.). This evocative short by Sasha Pirker on the Desert Hot Springs Motel, built in 1947 by Lautner and purchased in 2000 by the late writer Steve Lowe, tells the story of the motel's renovation and first guests in decades.
