THE IRON GIANT
1999, Warner Bros., 86 min, USA, Dir: Brad Bird

Director Brad Bird's ambitious take on Ted Hughes' 1968 children's book The Iron Man is a delightful tale of friendship between a fatherless boy and a gigantic metal robot, in a small town in the Cold War ’50s. One of the best animated films to have come out in the past 20 years, with magical moments for the whole family.

FANTASTIC MR. FOX
2009, 20th Century Fox, 87 min, Dir: Wes Anderson

Director Wes Anderson's first animated film is an adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's book. Mr. and Mrs. Fox (voiced by George Clooney and Meryl Streep) live an idyllic home life with son Ash (Jason Schwartzman), but the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr. Fox. When he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief, he ends up endangering the whole animal community.
