AWESOME; I FUCKIN’ SHOT THAT
2006, Oscilloscope Laboratories, 90 min, USA, Dir: Adam Yauch

Under the pseudonym “Nathaniel Hörnblowér,” Beastie Boy MCA directed this awesome concert film but he had plenty of help - it was compiled from footage shot by 50 audience members, who’d been given camcorders to document the band’s 2004 appearance at Madison Square Garden. “Sabotage” “Intergalactic” and “Brass Monkey” are among the favorites performed by the trio, who were joined by fellow hip-hop heroes Doug E. Fresh and Darryl McDaniels of Run-DMC at the sold-out show.

THE CURE IN ORANGE
1987, 113 min, USA, Dir: Tim Pope

This terrific concert film captures U.K. alternative rockers The Cure performing in the ancient Théâtre Antique d’Orange amphitheater while in France during their Beach Party tour. Frontman Robert Smith leads his band through 23 of their songs, playing a mix of singles and favorites from their first album, THREE IMAGINARY BOYS, through 1985’s THE HEAD ON THE DOOR, including such songs as “Inbetween Days” and “Let's Go to Bed.”
